CPU Vulnerabilities: Meltdown

Tue, Jan 16, 2018   |   Tags : GymMaster News

All Services Will Be Affected.

A number of serious security vulnerabilities affecting many CPU architectures have recently been disclosed by Google Project Zero. Jann Horn of Project Zero recently made the announcement. “We have discovered that CPU data cache timing can be abused to efficiently leak information out of mis-speculated execution, leading to (at worst) arbitrary virtual memory read vulnerabilities across local security boundaries in various contexts.” As a result, our servers are requiring maintenance at multiple levels. Due to the severity of the vulnerabilities, action must be taken swiftly, which will require up to two hours or server downtime - however it is likely that the outage will be shorter. What this means for you: Your services will go down for a short time at some point over the next week. We are unable to give you a specific time of occurrence. However, your access control will not be affected, due to the way that GymMaster Gatekeepers store your database information for such upgrades. We take security very seriously and we are rolling out the patches on our servers to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
